MPO / MTP solutions

The need to increase bandwidth in data centers continues, and multimode fiber cables have been supported as a useful optical solution. MTP/MPO cable assemblies, as an excellent solution for fast and stable multimode fiber connection, provide an operational way for 40GbE and 100GbE network solutions and ensure a high-performance and high-speed network.

MTP/MPO connector

In MTP/MPO fiber cables, as the name suggests, MTP/MPO fiber cables are terminated with MTP/MPO connectors on one or both ends of the fiber cables. MTP/MPO connectors can provide fast and stable connection for up to 12 fibers. MPO is an industry acronym for “multi-fiber push on”. MPO connectors are usually defined by two different documents. One is IEC-61754-7, the most commonly cited standard for MPO connectors internationally. Also EIA/TIA-604-5, also known as FOCIS 5, is the most common standard used in the United States. The MTP connector is, in fact, an improved version of the MPO connector. Compatible with all MPO connectors. The image below just shows what MTP connectors are.

MTP/MPO fiber cables

MTP/MPO fiber cables, as a vital part of the MPO/MTP cabling system, are intended for fast and consistent operation for multi-fiber connection system in data centers. Each MTP fiber cable contains 12 fibers or 6 bi-directional channels in one connector, so less space is required. Also, MTP/MPO fiber is produced with excellent optical and mechanical properties, which makes it offer better scalability. They are easy to manage and maintain. MTP/MPO fiber cables can save a lot of cost and space to some extent. The figure below shows an MTP fiber cable.

When it comes to its types, MTP/MPO fiber cables fall on MTP/MPO trunk cables and MTP/MPO harness cables. The first, available in 12-144 counts, is programmed for high-density use. Using MTP/MPO trunk cables, a complete fiber optic backbone installation is accessible without any field termination. The second one, available in 8-144 n, harness cable, also called breakout cable or breakout cable, is a cable assembly used to break an MPO/MTP trunk for separate connection (such as LC, SC, etc.), in order to feed with Their active equipment provides connection to equipment or panels that are terminated with other standard connectors.

MTP/MPO cassettes

MTP/MPO cassettes are used to join MTP/MPO backbone with LC/SC/ST/FC patch and reduce installation time and cost for optical network setup. They are able to provide secure connection between MTP/MPO and LC/SC/ST/FC. Standard MTP/MPO cassettes can accommodate 12 or 24 port configurations. The image below shows an MTP/MPO cassette.
